MGTOWgate, AKA "Sorry Ladies, MGTOW Isn't Binary"

There's Gamergate, Elevatorgate, Atheism+, and to continue the overuse of the word "gate," let's just call this observation I've had "MGTOWgate."

Of course there really isn't a "MGTOWgate" in the normal sense of the suffix, however I have noticed something similar happening to various MGTOW sites that parallel the concern troll attacks of the aforementioned "gate-scandals."  Specifically, a spurt of feminists and some non-feminists writing about MGTOW's and the MGTOW movement, even claiming there's a WGTOW movement.

Regardless of their individuality, their central "thesis" or argument is one of questioning the veracity and commitment of MGTOW's.  That men can't and therefore never really do "give up women completely."  Sure enough they point to the MGTOW's that have women in their lives, admit they do find women attractive, occasionally "crack" and ask a girl out, etc.  And sure enough they say, "LOOK!  LOOK!  SEE!!! THEY'RE NOT GOING THEIR OWN WAY!"  And with 100% predictability call hypocrisy on the movement, hoping to convince others it's fraudulent.

There's just one problem ladies.

MGTOW isn't binary.  It's a spectrum

What I mean by that is that if you go your own way you don't COMPLETELY eliminate women out of your life.  It's not like one day you're chasing after women non-stop and then the next quit cold turkey ne'er to see the tatas of a woman again.  You simply re-prioritize your priorities where women are no longer a...well...priority.  ie. - they're not COMPLETELY off the list, they're just knocked down the list some.

The result is something more of a scale or a spectrum.  Yes you do have men who have truly given up on women and really don't have them in any capacity in their lives.  But the majority of them (I would surmise and have observed) are not going to pass up an easy fling, a true love of their life, or a date that happens naturally and with little effort.  The real issue is the effort men put into the pursuit of women and that is where most critics (authentic or not) in "MGTOWgate" are operating on a flawed premise.

To provide you with empirical evidence of MGTOW's being a scale and not an binary designation, consider three bits of data.

The first one is an informal survey I did with readers about what percent of their free time they spent pursuing women at 5 year intervals across their lives.  My theory was that as men got older, they tired of the chase, not to mention learned they were led on about the quality of women available in the population, thus becoming disincentived.  My hunch proved true as men spent a peak of 25% their free time at the age of 25 chasing girls and in 3 decades time spent only 2%

The second thing is the decline in the rate (or increase in the age of) marriage.  People can blame it on the recession.  People can blame it on student loans.  People can blame it on whatever they want.  The truth is since it is men that do 100% of the proposing the demand for marriage has dropped and men have statistically and empirically gone their own way at least partially.

And the third bit of data is a little anecdote from last night when I went swing dancing for the first time in nearly 6 months.  10 years ago you would have seen me and my crew out at least three nights a week asking no less than 15 girls each to dance.  Nearly half of those women would be asked out.  And as statistics would have it, it was very common several girls would be asked out by multiple guys in my crew the same night.

But not last night.

It was just me and one other buddy of mine.

I mustered up the strength to ask three girls to dance and had the intention of asking out none.

My buddy looked around, but was not inspired enough by any gal to ask them to dance (and he's single!).

He hasn't sworn off women.  And I certainly haven't either.  But the effective reality women get to face is that it's MGTOW none the less.  Interest in women was 10% of what it used to be as we were more interested in our smart phones and grabbing dinner later that night than dancing or dating.

The point is, so sorry ladies.  So so terribly sorry.  MGTOW is not like becoming a born again Christian, quitting drugs cold turkey, or joining AA.  It's not a yes or no, an either or, a 1 or 0.  It's the sad reality that men are making logical and economic choices as to how to spend their finite time, and putting women down further and further in terms of life's priorities when history and empirical data show they don't provide an adequate rate of return.  However, women are rarely kicked off the list completely.  Therefore when you see a MGTOW on a date, getting some play, or has some broad on the back of his motorcycle he isn't a fraud or a hypocrite.  He's a guy who's living his own life on his terms and STILL slaying it with the ladies.

Which is what women have always found attractive in the first place.

Remember MGTOW's.  Life is more more than just getting a motorcycle and "going."  You need to plan for the future.  Consider purchasing "Bachelor Pad Economics."  The financial bible 4 out of 5 MGTOW's swear by!

The Father Could Not Be Reached for Comment

Again, I'm always concerned about whether the advice I give is dated because its origins come from the 80's and 90's.  Then I see this and that she has two children that will continue to wreak psycho behavior well into the future and I know that the future of my career is secure.  The world will desperately need Asshole Consulting well into the future.

What Corporate Taxes REALLY Are in the US

As you know I tire of debating with people who are not only uninformed, but ideologues who have no problems lying in order to advance their cause.  This is one of the reasons I no longer listen to the news, and instead pull data as my primary source of information and opinion forming.  One such debate was the issue of "what corporations really pay in taxes."

The right screams bloody murder pointing at the stated corporate tax rate of 40%.
The left screams "loopholes," talks about GE and Google's 0% tax rate, and then claim the "effective tax rate" is 12%.

I know both sides of the argument, and know what is the correct approach to it:

"You shouldn't even have a corporate tax you idiots.  You want jobs.  You want to attract investors.  Get rid of this cancer that is holding the US back from its full potential."

Regardless of philosophical arguments about whether there should even be a corporate tax, I decided to look up once and for all the REAL corporate tax rate.  I'm not listening to the right fretting over the statutory 40% rate.  And I'm CERTAINLY NOT listening to some bogus academian study made of whole cloth by biased socialists "professors."  I simply took "Corporate Profits BEFORE Taxes," subtracted "Corporate Profits AFTER Taxes," divided it by the former and calculated the REAL AND TRUTHFUL tax rate the US has had since 1929.

Got it?

Before taxes.  After taxes.  Subtract and divide.

"I get the disks, you drop Walsh."

So here it is ladies and gentlemen.

So that's it.  That's what all the hubbub is about.  The current effective tax rate is about 22% and has been trending down since the 1930's.

Naturally the left (if they ever read this blog) would seize on this claiming that corporate taxes in the glorious 50's was around 41% and we were booming then.  And naturally the right will seize on this saying 22% is more than the 0% leftists would like everything to think corporations pay.

But I'm going to try to introduce some reality into the situation as to why corporate taxes have been going down so that we MIGHT actually leave a better economy to our future;

Foreign competition.

And we're not talking about foreign competition from manufacturing or other economic competitors.  We're talking about competition from other governments.  Specifically, governments are competing for investors and corporations as they ALL lower their corporate taxes to lure them.

This is why you have Burger King merging with Tim Horton's.  This is why you have Medtronic leaving for Ireland.  This is why corporations have trillions parked overseas in Bermuda, the Caymans, Singapore and elsewhere.  Because there ARE greener pastures.

I'm not going to call for the argument that the US eliminate its corporate taxes forever.  It will fall on deaf ears of the left that are either too lazy to think this through or are too wedded to their ideology to have an independent thought or intellectual honesty.  It is also an argument that doesn't need to be preached to the right-wing choir.

I will point out however a rare phenomenon that you won't see very often - governments competing.

In this one rare instance, governments are acting like private sector companies and actually serving their customers well.  Governments want money, they want a tax base, they want a booming economy and some of them are waking up to what Hong Kong and Singapore woke up to nearly 50 years ago.  MAKE IT ATTRACTIVE FOR INVESTORS TO MOVE AND INVEST THERE.  Because of this some companies are scoring jobs.  And not just "jobs," higher paying white collar jobs that typically come with relocating a headquarters there.  This, like free markets always do, benefits the customers.  The customers of which are the citizens of the countries lowering corporate taxes.

This is not complicated, complex, high end economics.

This is simple 3rd grade logic.

And the fact the left in this country is blinded with envy and hate of "corporations" to the point they can't see the benefits of getting rid of corporate taxes means half the population we're dealing with are not as smart as 3rd graders.

Obama and the Magic Gini

If you don't know what the Gini Coefficient is, that's alright.  It just means you have a life.  But for the sake of efficiency, the Gini coefficient is a number between 0 and 1.  A country with a Gini coefficient of 0 means all income is distributed equally.  And a country with a Gini coefficient of 1 means one person makes all the money.  This measure was created to show just how skewed income distribution was and, truthfully, to make disparity income distributions "evil" or "bad" in the eyes of a naive public.

Sadly, despite Obama's ideologue-strength desire to redistribute income, he's only managed to (in the classic sense) make the rich get richer while the poor gets poorer.  The Gini coefficient has been going up as it always has.

Technically that bold faced lie (the richer get richer and the poor gets poorer) is a lie.  Both rich and poor are getting richer over time.  It's just that the rich get richer faster because they have the majority of monies and can therefore capitalize on early investments in successful ventures.  But still, as a relative measure, the poor continue to lose "relative" ground to the rich.  And if you couldn't get an American-hating communist like Obama to lower the Gini coefficient, you're not going to find anyone to do it.

Dear China, Here's Where Your Money Went

In a previous post I calculated the statistical causes of the US federal deficit and debt.  It was to answer the debate, once and for all, whether it was military spending or social spending that was the primary cause of our financial woes.  When the statistics were tallied it turned out nearly 2/3rds of the deficit/debt was caused by social spending and only 25% military spending.

However, while this addresses the budgetary issues facing the country (which will be summarily ignored), it does nothing to address the counterparty to this deficit spending.  Namely, our creditors. Specifically China.

The whole idea of "lending" money is that you do so expecting to not only get your principal back, but some interest income as well.  And the way your debtor will pay you back is by taking the proceeds from the loan and investing it in a venture that will generate a rate of return in excess of the interest rate being charged.

However, let's focus on the key word of that sentence - "invest."

To sane people or people who care about getting their money back the quality of the loan is based on the quality of the investment that money is used to finance.  Therefore it behooves the lender to analyze where the proceeds of the loan are going to go.  This was my primary job during my 15 year tenure in banking.  My job was to take loan applications, analyze their creditworthiness and determine whether they proceeds would not only be invested wisely, but generate a rate of return that would satisfy the debt obligations.

Out of the thousands of loans I analyzed a majority of them were bad investments.  Another real-estate development in an already-oversaturated market.  A loan to my boss' buddies with no collateral.  Sports bars for ex-jocks going through midlife crises.  And horse hobby farms for the trophy wives of insolvent faux "businessmen."  There was even the famous "cereal bar" where our money would be used to purchase milk (which does not make a good form of collateral).  But out of all these horrendous and idiotic investments, they are nowhere near as bad as the US government bonds you Chinese got suckered into buying.  And the reason is simple:

The majority of the money you lent us was not invested.  It was merely pissed away.

Consider a statistical break down of where your money was "invested" here in the US.

The Military 26%

One of the largest components of the US budget, your money was used to buy weapons and pay soldiers.  Sadly, the military is not an investment.  Matter of fact, it's quite the opposite.  The military is PURPOSELY designed to destroy things.  Not build them.  You will not get a return on your investment from the US military.

Social Security/Medicare 33% combined

The reason I combined these two is because of the delicious irony of how your money was "invested."  Social Security is paid to people who are retired or are disabled.  In other words, they don't work.  You are merely paying these people to live with no expectation of a return on your investment.  Worse still (and doubly ironic) is Medicare is basically paying to keep old people alive who are about to die anyway.  Instead of investing in the "youth" who might have the capacity to earn the money to pay you back, you are investing in old people who not only DON'T work, but will die soon.

Income Security 16%

Oh, you know how I said if you invested in the youth you'd at least stand a shot at getting some modicum of return on your investment?  Yeah, well there are some young people out there who could work, but they're lazy and just don't want to.  That or they so spectacularly screwed up their lives by having children they can't afford or some other such life-destroying move that they're too pre-occupied living off of others to be concerned about paying you back.  Besides, this is the dumbest segment of our society and they frankly probably don't know the different between China and Japan.

Health 9%

Remember those lazy people I was telling you about?  Yeah, the ones that don't work?  Well they tend to have children at higher rates than their responsible citizen counterparts, and so they need health care.  You could make the argument that these kids will grow up and maybe get jobs, thereby giving you a slim hope you might recoup a fraction of your investment, but a visit to one of our fine trailer parks, ghettos or barrios will show you the cycle of poverty these unfortunate children are condemned to.

Education 4%

You may have your final hopes pinned on that a small percentage (4%) of your money went into education and training.  This should make people more productive, get them higher paying jobs, and thus provide the tax base to finally pay you guys back.

Sadly, your hopes are misplaced, because unlike our Chinese and Asian counterparts, the majority of American education does NOT go to productive endeavors, but worthless frivolous ones, specifically the humanities and liberal arts.  The result is not only an industry that indoctrinates our youth into socialism and sloth, but gives them no real practical skills that will help generate economic growth.  You won't get your money back here, but at least Tina the Suburbanite Princess got her Masters in Transgendered 13th Century Sculpture Fairy Studies.  Thanks hard working Chinese people!

We could go on, but that accounts for nearly all of the money you've lent us.  And as you noticed none of these things even come close to "investments."

The sad truth is that America did not "invest" the money you lent us. It bribed.  It bribed our parasitic class to vote for democrat politicians, keeping them in power and preventing them from having to work real jobs (perhaps you are aware of our president's complete lack of real-world work?)  Oh sure, our leftist politicians say they're "investing," but that is nothing more than a co-opted word used to hide their true intentions.

The issue is what are you going to do about it?  I personally am shocked China, let alone anybody in the world lends the US government (and by association) our parasitic class money.  What is literally happening is we are essentially enslaving hundreds of millions of Chinese.  We have you work the menial jobs Americans are too lazy to work themselves, while stealing borrowing money to pay for those goods and services.  Thus the welfare mother doesn't work, but she still gets Chang at the Samsung plant to build her a nice new smart phone, bought and paid for with money you gave her via the US federal government.

What the Chinese people and its government have to understand is that it is unlikely you will ever be paid back the money you lent us.  Not because the US government chooses not to pay you back, but because the population of the US is decaying and declining to the point they are incapable of working up the economic growth to pay you back.  I can only hope (and grant permission to anybody who wants to) to translate this into Cantonese and/or Mandarin, and would love to hear arguments why the Chinese people are making such a horrible investment.

This post is now on Reddit.  Land of "This Guys An Idiot Because He Disagrees With Me."  Would be horrible if a Cappylanche were to happen and it gets voted up.

California Institute of the Arts

I had an agent send this to me.  He attended the California Institute of the Arts (where these fliers were from) and I think any young man considering this college should rethink given its politically hostile environment towards men and how "rape" is now defined as "regret."

This isn't bullshit boys.  You need to be VERY WELL AWARE AND WARNED just how much of a risk it is attending colleges like these, especially in California, where they are so far deluded, so far gone, that mere "regret" is grounds for a rape accusation.

Choose schools wisely boys.  You landing in jail or having your tuition confiscated while you're expelled because you had sex with a drunk girl is just not worth it.

The Truth About Executive Compensation

A common whine complaint from unions and the left is about executive compensation.  That these evil, fat cat, mean, rich executives make too much money and if that money were instead to be paid out to the "real" workers in corporations, then all would be well and every child would have a pet unicorn.

Like many, if not all, arguments of the left it is based in idealism and not reality.  What people want, versus what the labor market can possibly mathematically deliver.  Hope and not reality.

Because of this, their arguments are founded on weak clay foundations, and it doesn't take much research or empiricism to prove them wrong.  So after (literally) 5 minutes of research I was able to pull some quick statistics and facts, do a little bit of 3rd grade math and debunk this leftist pipe-dream of an argument that has been around for decades.

Once again, I'm going to go with the most

EVIL
VILE
DISGUSTING
GREEDY
HORRIBLE

corporation that ever existed - Exxon Mobil.

Executive compensation, which is now required to be filed in the 10K/annual report to the SEC, can more easily be found on Morningstar which does a nice job of presenting it annually.

As you note, those evil, mean (and no doubt) 100% white male corporate executives at Exxon Mobil make on average $85 million annually in compensation.

Now, what if we were to take all of it and spread it fairly across all the "real" employees at Exxon Mobil?  How much would it help those poor, disadvantaged near-slaves that are being taken advantage of by these evil executives?

Well a little google searching will find that Exxon Mobil employs 75,000 employees.  You do a little 3rd grade math and you come to find out that if we stuck it to those evil, greedy (and don't forget White Male) capitalist pigs, each and EVERY employee would get a raise of  (drum roll please!!!!)....

$1,133.

Giggity freaking giggity.

Now, let's do something I like to do to save time and advance the conversation along - predict the knee-jerk counterarguments from the left.

Did you include stock options? - Yes, the SEC considers stock options, grants, and other forms of non-cash compensation in it's calculations.

Well, that's just Exxon Mobil.  It's probably worse at other companies! - Then you do something for the first time and research something rather than blather.

Still!  That's better than nothing!!!! - Oh shut up.

The whole point is that this myth of if we "just took executive compensation and spread it across the employees, then everybody would have higher standards of living" is precisely that - a myth.  The MATHEMATICAL REALITY IS that there just aren't enough executives out there.  Yes, they make a lot of money, but given the ratio of employees to executives, it's too high to make this dream reality. Worse still for the left, this says nothing about their ultimate goal - taking executive compensation and giving it to EVERYBODY - employees, poor people welfare recipient, students, single mothers, etc. etc.  If you included the millions of dependent parasitic classes, confiscating ALL of Exxon Mobil's executives' compensation would result in an increase of just PENNIES to the average democrat voter.

The truth is that relying on other people and pursuing a life of parasitism will NEVER get you to the standards of living you want.  And wasting your life lobbying, debating, and arguing for other people's money is precious time that could be otherwise spent improving yourself, your skills and your own lot in life, much more so than waiting for the democrat party to eek out an added tax "on the rich."

So argue all you want.
Protest all you want.
Whine all you want.
Stammer your feet and pout.

Even if you got everything you wanted, your life would still suck because (and here's the sad truth) you suck.

So stop sucking at life and do something with it instead of sticking your hand out.

The Deflationary Spiral is a Lie

Rick Newman at Yahoo *COUGH COUGH WHEEZE WHEEZE* "News" wrote a piece recently about the horrors and catastrophes of "deflation."

Yes, this economic scourge is so dangerous, so devastating that people unfortunate enough to experience it suffer:

Higher standards of living
An increase in the value of their money
Increased purchasing power
and
a stable currency

Sarcasm aside, you don't need to be an economist to figure out that the "deflationary spiral" is a Keynesian canard because the WHOLE POINT OF ECONOMICS AND SOCIETAL ADVANCEMENT IS TO MAKE THINGS CHEAPER!  It's the SOLE PURPOSE of economics.  Increasing standards of living through efficiency.  So already you know when somebody warns about the "horrors" of "deflation," you know they're either

1.  An ignorant journalist who doesn't know jack about economics or
2.  A politician or political operative trying to dupe you

(Mr. Newman is the first, despite his degree in economics, which was no doubt dripping with Keynesianism)

However, this simple logic to find out if believers in the Deflationary Spiral are devils or dupes, does not expressly explain or disprove their claims.  That claim being that deflation lowers demand by delaying purchases as people "know" prices are going down and simply postpone those purchases indefinitely into the future.  And while it may seem logical on the face of it, that's all it is - logical.  Not empirical.

First, in order to believe the Deflationary Spiral exists you have to believe that Americans are financially conscious and savvy enough to know about prices, inflation, etc.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????

The average American doesn't even know who's in congress or where Canada is, let alone what the CPI is doing!!!!  They are so stupid and so doped up on bread and circus BS that the last thing they're doing is reading Federal Reserve minutes.  They are the most economically ignorant population in the history of humanity (but they're experts in the Kardashians and ESPN post game shows).

Second, since the average American is clueless about finances and economics, they spend money like...well...Americans.  They save practically nothing,

and (despite enormous debt forgiveness during the financial crisis) have managed to rack up cumulative household debt back above 100% GDP.

Third, Americans lack the capacity for delayed gratification.  In the now now now me me me mine mine mine society, nobody is conscious, let alone psychologically capable of budgeting, conserving or postponing purchases.

And finally, women.  (Yes, sorry, we're going there, because it's germane and true).  Depending on what statistics you want to use, women account for anywhere between 55-80% of all household purchases.  And most of them are on worthless and unneeded trinkets and crap.  I have NEVER, EVER heard a woman utter "deflationary spiral" because it has never occurred to a newly wed wife to postpone purchases of curtains for her new home, a power tripping NYC marketing executive to postpone purchases of her Pravda shoes, or a naive and clueless college student to postpone the purchase of her $200,000 "Masters in Latina Transgendered Anthropologic Poetry Unicorn Studies."

But the ultimate argument against the Deflationary Spiral is simply one of empircism.

It does not exist.

While I know economists, journalists, politicians, and everyday sheeple just like to repeat things they heard in college or the news, it doesn't make them true.  And if you look at spending versus inflation, THERE IS NO RELATIONSHIP.

This chart shows the velocity of money (the rate at which a dollar is spent and re-spent, indicating demand).  It is juxtaposed against inflation.  To the untrained eye you might be tempted to detect a pattern or relationship between the two, and according to the Deflationary Spiral believers as prices go down you should see a decrease in the velocity of money.

However, THERE IS NO RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO.  When correlated against one another the correlation coefficient is -.04, meaning no relationship at all.

Naturally, I don't expect my little blog here, let alone this little post to correct the thousands of erroneous pages in economic textbooks.  I don't expect this FACT to change politicians' or journalists' thinking (or incentives).  And I doubt that anybody at the Federal Reserve will remove their lips from Keynes' dead ass long enough to consider this data.  But I do expect my readers and anybody who really cares about politics and economics to know the Deflationary Spiral just doesn't exist.  And that the next time you hear somebody trying to "scare-tactic" you using the "Deflationary Spiral" to know it's a calculated political move to allow for more government debt and printing of money.

Please Stop Begging for Higher Rates of Return

A common question I get in my "alternative" financial life style is

"How can I get a higher rate of return on my investments?"

People are sick of the barely existent interest rates on their checking or savings accounts.  People don't like the rates on T-Bills or government bonds.  And people are also tired of the whopping 3-5% on high quality corporate bonds.

Isn't there ANYWHERE I can get a better return?  Why, I need my 401k to magically constantly forever unabattedly perpetually infinitely grow at 10% in order to retire at 62!

The charlatans come in and say "stocks."

But let me beat this dead horse one more time in case you didn't get it the first 40 times.

What is the REAL rate of return of stocks?  And when I say REAL I mean what kind of income do stocks generate?  I know everybody has formed a circle jerk around capital gains and believe that magically constantly forever unabattedly perpetually infinitely increasing stock prices will solve everybody's problem, but what drives those capital gains?  What gives stocks their value?

The answer is -dividends.

It's not "earnings" because ultimately a life long share holder never SEES all the earnings.  They are ONLY paid dividends (and a final cash out should the company be acquired or their shares be purchased), but even that final cash out is dependent upon the future dividends those acquired assets will generate.

So what "rate of return" are stocks truly providing?  What is the real "interest rate" you are earning on stocks?

Well my fine 401k Zombie Lemmings, here it is:

I strongly recommend you plan on working till you're 75.

The Real, Statistical, Factual Causes of the US Deficit and Debt

A very common and very KEY argument I came across when debating the left is the true and underlying causes of the national deficit, and by consequence, national debt.  Those of us on the right claim it is excessive social spending, those on the left insist it is military spending.  After studying the budget and public finances tangentially, I intuitively knew it had to be social spending.  BUT, I did not know for a fact.  And so I decided to spend my coffee session pulling data from the White House's federal budget data and FRED database to find out, once and for all, what are the true causes of our national deficit/debt.

The issue is not as straight forward as one might thing.  For example, how far back do we go?  1790?  Post WWII?  What percentage of today's debt is caused by which years of deficit the government has run.  In the best efforts of intellectual honesty I looked at the historical "deficits as a percentage of GDP" aiming to find when we started running chronic and serious budget deficits.  I also went post WWII because of the obvious warping effects a global war has on budgets.  And I also chose post WWII because adjusting for inflation and population growth (ie - the majority of today's debt was caused by more recent society, not the 10 million people that lived here 200 years ago).

This resulted in a starting point of 1971.  If you look at deficits as a percentage of GDP it was 1971 that start not only chronic, but significant deficits (and it is here, no doubt, leftists will focus their arguments because the math henceforth is unassailable).

However, before we move forward it is imperative that I issue a trigger warning for any socialists, leftists or democrats reading this.  The following information is factual, math based, and real.  I know these things cause great stress, emotional harm, and psychological damage to leftsits, not to mention are insulting to the leftist community.  If you could have your government-paid therapist or counselor on speed dial, that may help before continuing reading through this article.

So here is the basic data.  The sum of all government spending, by general department from 1971 to 2014, along with their corresponding percentages.

You'll note standard battle lines to be drawn as libertarians and conservatives cite Social Security as being larger than Military spending.  You'll also note the left immediately (and predictably) pointing out "Veterans Affairs" is not included in military spending.  However, the above data needs to be simplified as there are multiple accounts across the general two categories that are being debated as to the cause of our chronic deficits and debt - Military spending and Social spending.  I simplified this chart into four categories.

1.  Social spending
2.  Military spend
3.  Governance (which is appallingly low) and
4. "Other" (where it wasn't governance, social spending, or military.  Namely space agency)

The results confirm what nearly 2 decades of research and common sense would tell you - social spending is by far to blame for the deficits and debt we have today.

But before leftists now scramble to find an excuse (or call their therapist) to explain this reality away, let's us hold on before taking that step and address a tangential issue to this debate that may solve it for both sides - psychology.

You see, in the early days of this blog (and my career) I naively spend hours, if not months, crunching numbers, calculating statistics, and doing so in an intellectually honest manner because I truthfully was concerned about what was truth.  I did not want to have an ideology or a political position and then "force" data to fit my preferences.  I wanted the facts and data to form my political ideology.  However, when presenting data, such as the above, to those on the left, no matter how right it was, no matter how solid and unbiased my ideology, and no matter how apolitical the data was, people on the left simply refused to believe it.

It soon dawned on me the true debate between right and left is not one of facts, data, statistics or reality, but one of psychology.  The left is delusional and puts their religion above all else, including reality.

Therefore, let us cut to the chase.  I know I just wasted the past hour crunching numbers, making charts, and uploading them here.  I know this is going to be as effective as DayQuil on cancer.  So my question to the left is NOT "will you please finally admit you were wrong."  It's going to be;

"Please humor me and entertain me with the mentally ill and cognitive dissonance acrobatics your going to use to explain away this one.  I always get a kick out of watching mentally damaged people ignore reality."

Enjoy that freaking decline.

The Clarey Podcast Episode #66 - "The Stalker Paradox"

Asking girls out before cell phones
"The Stalker Paradox" and flaking out in the 90's
"She got hit by a truck" aka "The Night Cappy Was Stood Up"
Troll of the Weak exposes herself through shaming language
The pen IS mightier than the sword
It's better to lie than be called an "ist"
How minorities should be lynching the left for how they're ruined their lives

AND MORE!

In this episode of The Clarey Podcast.

Also remember the podcast is available in iTunes and Stitcher.

And for all you Apple users, for some reason people who also have their podcast on iTunes keep asking to "vote up" their podcast on iTunes.  I don't know what that is, I'm sure there's some benefit, so if you'd be so kind, I'd appreciate it.

Truth Cannot Be "Sexist" Nor "Racist"

What I always get a kick out of (and more or less how I make my living) is how merely speaking the truth will get you accused of all sorts of "ists."  I'm already 60% dead and will not waste my remaining life living lies or abiding by them.  I've already danced around politically incorrect eggshells for far too long.  So I find it very cute, but intellectually conflicting when people claim merely speaking the truth is "sexist" or "racist."

This otherwise fine review of BPE is one such an example.

"I’m going to have to agree that there are a few things Aaron writes about that are sexist. However what his critics don’t address is the more important issue of whether or not what he writes is true."

So am I to understand that the Victim Industry and Politically Correct Nazis have been so successful in brainwashing people that it is better to LIE than to speak the truth?  It's scary that people's logic are so preprogrammed this way that it is better to lie than to be considered sexist or bigotted, etc.

Let me tell you the path this is going down.

When people start telling lies, believing in lies, and (worst of all) making decisions based in lies, society begins to falter.  Growth falters, standards of living decrease, nearly every aspect of life will get worse because you're NOT living in the real world. What's worse is that people would prefer to hear pretty lies than harsh truths, and this gives genuinely evil people, posing as politicians, carte blanche to tell you whatever they want, and whatever you want to hear, so they can score your naive vote.

You people wonder why economic growth is 1/2 of what it used to be?
You people wonder why you can't find jobs?
You people wonder why there's a national debt 105% GDP?
You people wonder why after trillions spent on "The Great Society" women still earn only 77% of what men do and black's standards of living have not closed the gap with whites?

Well how about you grow a fucking spine and start accepting, living with, and basing your decisions in....(GASP!!!!)

reality.

Enjoy the decline, boys and girls.  Enjoy the freaking decline.

Beware of Made Up Words

Something that I hadn't had time to fully think through was why people (especially in academia) who used made up words gave me the heebee jeebees.  Any perusal of a women's studies course description or the a powerpoint presentation from a "diversity consultant" will leave (the sane) reader not only befuddle and perplexed, but asking the question, "WTF?"  More so the sane reader's survivalist instincts will kick in in the back of his brain saying, "Something ain't right here.  What are these people up to?  There is something nefarious going on."  And your instincts aren't wrong, because there is indeed something nefarious going on.

Take for example the handful of new vocabulary words I've learned thanks to Mr. Aurini.

Agency
Misanthrope
and
Catharsis

Very hoity toity words.  Very high brow philosophy, and one might even conclude these terms are just as bogus as many made up academian ones.  However, just because they're high brow and not commonly part of most people's vernacular, doesn't mean they're not real words.  And the reason they are real words is because they describe a phenomenon that is naturally happening in the real world.  "Agency" is in part responsibility or purpose in life, a very real force that drives men's psychology today.  Misanthrope is a person who hate humanity.  And catharsis is basically an excuse for you to take all your frustrations out on a whipping boy.

Because these words describe real world phenomena they are practical.  They are useful.  They serve a function in describing something in the real world, allowing humans to identify, understand, describe and discuss them.

However, the same cannot be said about the ever-increasing faux-vocabulary that the left is manufacturing.

Take for example the words/phrases:

Intersectionality
Privilege
Raise awareness
Pangender
or any one of these 812 other gender types

These words are, frankly, made up words.  And the reason the hair on the back of your head is being raised when you hear them is because their primary goal is NOT to define something that is real in the real world, but rather to serve two ulterior purposes (as far as my thinking takes me).

1.  The Ego

If there is one thing I want to get across to other people about leftist psychology it is that it is driven by LAZINESS and EGO.  Intellectual weaklings who are too lazy to work hard, try hard, and engage in studies of true and genuine rigor find it fanciful to create "studies" out of whole cloth.  This serves two purposes - it allows them to avoid any actual hard work, BUT also allows them to fool themselves into thinking they're actually intelligent and on par with truly accomplished individuals.  Humanities professors love nothing more than being called "Professor" or "Doctor" when the effort they put into their studies was a microscopic fraction of the work real doctors in real fields forfeited.  This is not only why they're typically pompous about their fabricated position in life, but also dismissive of people who "just don't understand" don't believe their poppycock profession is real.

2. Making You a Slave/Stealing Your Life

Well, technically they want to steal your money (which is LITERALLY nothing more than making you a slave to them) but the larger point is that ego and laziness tends not to produce anything of value in the real world.  And since the left is typically not productive they need other people's money.

Here, these made up words serve a great function because they manipulate the only way humans communicate.  While you're trying to figure out what the heck a leftist is saying, or trying to understand what these words mean, deep down inside you can't know what these words mean because they aren't intended to describe anything real.  This provides the smoke screen for a leftist to essentially say, "You owe me more of your money because of (fill in made up word/concept here)_______________" and if you disagree or don't know what they were trying to say, too bad.  You're a "simpleton" "uneducated," or (more typically) a racist, bigot, homophobe, etc.

But understand such linguistic manipulation was by design.  Since these words do not adhere to the laws and rules of the real linguistic world, it's as if they become a supernatural word amongst normal words much like Superman amongst normal human beings.  It can be used for any purpose because it is not anchored or handicapped to having to be a real word that describes something TRUTHFULLY, ACCURATELY and REAL.

It is here you commonly see words that at one time WERE real and DID describe something in reality, but have since been co-opted for political and theft-purposes.

Racist
Misogynist
Bigot
Community
Diversity
Appropriate
Dialogue
Empowerment
and others

No doubt when you hear a politician, an activist, a non-profiteer, a media type or a professor using these words you immediately do not trust these people.

The larger point of this entire post, however, is to get you to identify these individual for what they truly are (using real words)

Cowards
Liars
and
Theives

No matter how clever or complicated they think they're being
No matter how much of a ruse they throw up to make themselves seem smart (again faux degrees in the humanities fields attracts these charlatans)
And no matter how much they bluff about their intellectual superiority, they are nothing but

Cowards,
Liars,
and
Thieves

They want your money, but dare not have the courage like a street thug to come up and try to take it from you.  Ergo they employ the most cowardly, elongated tactic to rationalize stealing it - the liberal arts and indoctrination.  And after brainwashing enough youth through the education industry to believe in things and concepts that aren't real, they "peaceably" steal your life from you through when these brainwashed dolts go and vote as they were programmed to, allowing idiocracy and the state to steal your money/life.

That is why when you hear these words your instincts tell you not to trust such people.
That is why when you hear these faux words the hair on the back of your hair stands up.

It's just now it's gone from an instinctual suspicion of a parasite and thief, to a full blow frontal lobe identification and knowledge of this clear and present threat.

How Inflation Explains Violence in the Middle East

If you dare to spend the few calories of energy it takes, the average person can increase their understanding of inflation (and thus economics) once they understand the concept of "flooding" a market with money.  Once you comprehend that money has no value and if you shovel a ton of it into a "market" with a finite amount of goods it only results inflation (not production), you've promoted yourself above nearly 95% of the population in terms of economic knowledge.

However, while most economic focus is on money and the markets it inflates, there are other forms of "currency" that have similar bubbly (and disastrous) effects on various countries and populations.  And military support is one such example.

We (at least here on Cappy Cap) all know the effects of flooding a market with money.  The stock market is overvalued by about 60% because of mindless-zombie-retirement dollars and QE money seeping in through buy backs and institutional investors.  College tuition, also a bubble, has increased in lock step with government grants, scholarships, student loans, 529 plans and all the other sources of financing the sheeple use to pay for increasingly worthless degrees.  The housing and Dotcom bubbles the same.  Investors, banks, lenders and borrowers all flooded that market.  But take that exact same concept of individual dollars flooding a market and replace it with guns, weaponry, and military support.

And now you can see the "bubble" that exists in the middle East.

Between the US, China, and Russia (and for various political reasons) the Mid East has been flooded with a ton of weapons and military wares for decades.  Add to that mix a religion where a significant percentage of its followers is radicalized.  Also add to the mix that two general sects within the group loathe each other.  And in the end you have a region full of wars, violence, murder, mayhem, etc.  However, ask yourself the question, would it be as bad had the powers that be just not involved themselves in the first place?

This is not a criticism of guns or various countries' policies in the Mid East, but merely an economic observation that the EXACT same thing that is happening in the college bubble or stock market is also happening in the Mid East through ISIS, Iraq, Syria, Israel, etc.  Just instead of inflation and higher prices being the unit of measurement by which people suffer, that unit of measurement is instead death.

The mathematical/economic solution is a simple one - simply stop supplying the area with guns and weapons.  ISIS would not have existed without US support and training, not to mention all the fine equipment and military grade hardware we left in the Iraqi's hands for them to take.  Lord knows how many people would have been saved had Russia not flooded the region with AK 47's.  And over time these weapons would wear out to the point of uselessness, and they would forced to resort to poorer and inferior weapons with less killing capabilities.  You would not so much get peace in the Mid East, but deaths would go down and maybe a modicum of safety and stability would ensue.

Alas, something tells me the ego of raging Shiite and Sunni are very much like the egos out of suburbanite teenage masses who view college as their birthright.  And sadly, the pushers of both weapons and worthless college degrees are more than happy to provide the supply.

Oh well, Enjoy the Decline!

Book Review - "Best Supplements for Men's Health" by Dennis Magan

Flights, especially ones that cross entire oceans, allow me to catch up on reading and a short little guide I read was Dennis Magan's new book "Best Supplements for Men's Health, Strength and Virility."

Even though it did not really knock off a lot of hours on my flight, it was an EXCELLENTLY written book that was succinct, practical and very helpful.  Like "30 Days of Discipline" it re-kicked my ass into not just eating right, but cut through all the BS about supplements, vitamins, pills etc.  It also explained (without going into great detail) so the average man can understand why he should take certain supplements, why they have a positive effect, and the simplified biological processes that were involved.

Even if you didn't want to read all the details, the book still serves as a very simplified "instruction manual" or "vitamin list" where you could just take the supplements listed at the beginning of each chapter, go to the pharmacy and be done with this aspect of your diet in under 10 minutes.

It is only available in Kindle (I believe) for the low and affordable price of $2.99.  You will likely spend more money on a single bottle of vitamins than this book.

Amazon is BACK Baby!

Hi All,

For those of you who are relatively new readers, I had an Amazon Affiliate program which many people used and incidentally helped support Cappy Cap.  Naturally, as all commie, socialist scum like to do, our governor and trust-fund baby of the Target/Macys/Dayton's empire-extraordinaire, Mark Dayton decided to force Amazon to pay sales tax, which prompted the closing of the affiliate program for all Minnesotans.  This resulted in a loss of significant revenue (but did prompt the birth of Asshole Consulting as a means to compensate for this loss).

However, Amazon has built a facility in Minnesota which allows them to be profitable under the current tax structure, which means the Amazon Affiliate program is BACK!

If you are unaware of how it works, basically, all I ask is that if you're going to buy something on Amazon do it here via Cappy Cap.  By clicking on the Amazon banner ON THIS BLOG you attach a "code" or "ID" to your shopping session.  This code then tells Amazon that your purchases were referenced from the Ole Captain, and the Ole Captain in turn gets a cut/commission.

You do NOT pay higher prices, we are simply keeping (roughly) a 5-7% commission within the Cappysphere.

Anyway, if you were looking for a way to support this blog, but don't like any of the wares offered by our advertisers or sponsors, you can now still support the site AND WITHOUT CHARITY by simply making your Amazon purchases from here.

My many thanks for you yahoos out there who read and support this blog.

The Production Paradox

It is becoming a daily, if not an hourly event that I receive an article, a post, or some other such media wherein a crusader or some group of social justice warriors are championing some damaging and self-serving leftist crusade to bolster their egos.  I've delved into this before at great length with my "Crusaderism" seminar, but one aspect of it I would like to expand upon is the "Production Paradox."

Many years ago the young Captain made an observation about his education, career, and work.  While skilled in math, finance, and statistics, he also very much enjoyed working at the police department where he was a wee little campus security guard.  He entertained thoughts of becoming a police officer, but beside that temptation he noticed the choice between going into banking versus becoming a cop was essentially a question of:

Are you better at producing good or stopping evil?

Any member of society who wishes to be productive and not a parasite has to answer this question for themselves.  Are they better at creating good stuff or stopping bad stuff.  Some people have the traits to be cops, lawmen, soldiers, doctors, while others have the aptitudes to be entrepreneurs, inventors, mechanics, engineers, programmers, and chefs.  But regardless of which of the two contributing-to-society categories you choose, in both cases you are helping advance society.

Enter in one minor problem - human advancement.

In general we can say that human kind has advanced.  And since it's been around for a long time it's advanced a lot.  We certainly have a long way to go, and there are certainly cultures stuck in the past, but if you live in the 1st world, the economy and science has been advanced so far that it takes significant time, effort, and rigor to not only learn what has already been discovered, but get to the productive edge of the envelope so that you may be truly productive.

But, "uh oh, Aaron!  Did you say 'time, effort, and rigor?'"

Yes, yes I did astute young economist.  And you know what that means.

Since to be a genuinely productive member of society takes a lot of effort, training and specialization, that is going to run counter to the (now running) three generations of westerners living (more or less effort free) off of the laurels of their predecessor generations.  And when given the choice of being a producer of good or a preventer of evil, a lot of lazy people will pick....

neither.

Yes, some will become cops (which is in part why cops have a mixed reputation).  Some will become lawyers (again mixed).  But a significant percentage of them will not even be willing to take on the efforts and rigors it takes to be part of the "evil-stopping" contributors of society.  Instead, they will become the most evil people in society:

The Crusaders or Social Justice Warriors.

The reason they are the most evil people in society is because they choose a path that does nothing to advance society, neither producing anything of value or prevent anything of evil.  Worse, they take a look at what has been produced, what humans have worked so hard to achieve these past 5,000 years and instead villainize and attempt to destroy these achievements and progress.  This is thinly veiled as a "career" in the form of getting degrees in "Social Justice," "Sociology," religion, career politicians, activists, non-profits, and the whole panoply of faux/bogus "professions."  When in reality it is just selfish, maniacal, lazy ego maniacs who have no problem destroying the achievements of others and parasiting off of the genuine producers in society.

I know it is hard to choose the path of production.  I know that it takes a lot of studying and time to become proficient in today's increasingly technologically advanced economy to get to that "production-envelope."  But for the Patron Saint's Name of Frick, if you choose not to go down that path, at least choose the path of stopping evil.  Otherwise, you yourself are at best a parasite on society, if not a genuine and cowardly evil that hides behind false crusades.

Add Hang Gliding to the Mix

Some pics from the final touristy spot, "Lake Annecy."  It's south of Geneva by about an hour or so.  Here I actually got to "captain" a "ship," but also found a new passion - hang gliding.  If you zoom in on the mountain pic you'll see some hangliders.  This will be my next sport starting next year.

Dirty, Rotten, Scoundrels

One of my favorite movies is "Dirty, Rotten, Scoundrels."  I found it slap stick funny in the 8th grade, but find it a brilliant work of art in my adulthood.

Naturally, out of all of Italy, I wanted to visit where the fictional "Beaumont Sur Mer" existed, but came to find out it was indeed fictional.  There is no such place as Beaumont Sur Mer."  However, there were real towns and general areas referenced in the movie that do indeed exist, one of which is "Portovino."  And thusly, I decided to visit this town in the hopes of seeing where the infamous Freddy Benson, aka, "Randy Bentwick" walked.

Naturally, the results were very Cappy.  Prosecco is quickly becoming the replacement for Rumpleminze, swimming in the Mediterranean was more pleasant than expected, saw a Ferrari convoy come through town, and more or less felt like a poser in what has the claim to fame as being the "richest" part of all of Italy.  Of course, Freddy Benson was a poser, so I find it merely fitting I was the low brow lower-middle income American middling in their midst.

Book Review - Average Married Dad's Guide

Alex Peck of Average Married Dad fame has come out with his book "Average Married Dad's Guide to Health, Wealth, and a Sexy Marriage - for 30-40 Somethings."

I met Alex a while ago when he was working in my neck of the woods.  He was sport enough to meet with me and my friends at Mancini's for drinks and food.  Sure enough, like most people you've known over the internet and Manosphere for a while, he proved not to be a poser or a fraud, but the genuine article.  He's married, he's ripped, he's good looking, he's an engineer, and thus, there is no doubt in my mind he has the authority to author a guide book.

But before you think he's perfect or lucky, let's be clear about this book.  A lot of the advice comes from trial and error, a lot of error.  He wasn't born with good looks and physical strength.  He had to diet and exercise.  He didn't have the perfect marriage.  He had the marriage every man has with the equally poor tools and training to manage it.  And he wasn't the greatest father.  He learned on the job.  In the end what the man has is wisdom.  And he earned it the hard way - by stumbling through life like the rest of us.

Thankfully, as is per the theoretical "mission statement" of the Manosphere, his goal is to make your lives easier than his by getting the wisdom it took him until he was 40 to learn into your hands and brains in your 20's and 30's.  Even then, a man in his 40's with a wife and children could benefit from this book as it would only serve to make a marriage stronger and family better.  And thus arguably  one of the largest benefits of his book - it addresses an underserved group within the Manosphere - married/older men.

A huge (the largest complaint actually) of my books is that they are only beneficial for younger, single men who don't have children.  While I disagree with that, that is the reality.  However, where my or other men's books (Roosh, Rollo, etc.) fail, Alex's succeeds.  This book covers everything, especially topics such as marriage, children, being a father, and being a husband.  It covers child rearing, reigniting your passion in marriage, and does so in a clear and effective manner.

About the only complaint I have about the book isn't really a complaint as much as it is a trait of the book.  It's not opinionated or terribly political.  It's very much a literal guide/instruction manual.  Alex does not cause any controversy or challenge philosophical thought.  This tone of writing might come off as a bit sterile or cool, even dry, but he is not here to pioneer new lines of thought or fillet the latest absurdity of feminism.  He is here to help 30-40 something men with their lives through discipline, observations, experience, wisdom and failure.

I would strongly recommend this book to the underserved masses of men in the Manosphere who either are married, wish to get married, or don't immediately feel like tirading against the evils of women and marriage when the topic is brought up.  As I've said before your wife/partner and children are the most important people in your lives and are the single greatest source of happiness for you.  But if you botch it up, they will be the equally greatest source of pain, misery, and strife.

Ensure it is the first and not the latter.  Buy Alex's book before you marry.
