I recommend:

Gurren Lagann - If there was ever a show that literally personified manliness and optimism, it would be this anime. Over and over, this show is about never giving up against impossible odds, and looking awesome doing so. It's super high energy and over-the-top epic action.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - The brilliant story telling of anime combined with the best of American animation. This show is a classic: a deep journey-based adventure with very good character development and an interesting world.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - This version of My Little Pony was designed to be interesting and entertaining for all age groups and genders. The perfect storm of award winning animators, voice talent, writers, and composers, this show has bucked the trends of its own roots. Character development is very, very good. The plots are relatively simple, but much more complex than typical typical fodder that talk down to little kids. This show has fostered a massive following online, particularly among teenage and adult males, and is currently Hasbro's top show. Unlike the other two, this show is currently running and is in its third season.

I recommend:

The Regular Show-Despite being modern, this animated comedy more closely mimics animated shows from the 90s. It is about two slackers and their adventures and contains a cornucopia of dry humor, quirky situations, and fun characters.

Gravity Falls-Two siblings visiting their great uncle during the summer go on supernatural, comedic adventures. Terrific voice acting and tons of mystery, humor, and action.

The adults were right all along, Pepe le Pew really does get funnier as you get older. Though it does beg the question: paint has a very un-hair-like texture. Has he ever run into another skunk?
